The developer Trion Worlds today announced the first details of the business model for the online action game Defiance. In addition to individual micro-transactions there will also be a premium membership. Moreover story extensions are planned.
So far, the developer Trion Worlds had regarding the business model for the online action game Defiance dressed mostly in silence. Now, however, are the first concrete details. As the producer Robert Hill has stated in an interview with the magazine Dealspwn.com is no final decision yet fallen. However, the team now has concrete plans, as one might make the business model.
Accordingly, Trion Worlds is currently planning a kind of dual system. Players of Defiance can choose whether they want to buy individual extras and content through micro-transactions. Or they may opt for a premium membership, which includes all these additional content already. Extras can be said, for example, a brief increase of experience points or visual improvements. Weapons Trion Worlds will not, however, sell for real money.
Furthermore, Hill explained that Defiance will be released as a retail version. The players must first buy a copy in a store, before they can get started. Hill also revealed that his team already has plans for story extensions that are to be offered after the release of the game. These include, new quests and raids. Specific details could not or would he not reveal, however.
The release of Defiance is currently scheduled for April 2013, a concrete date yet to be determined
